My little chef

Over fall break we went to Gatlinburg with Mike's family. A couple of days before we left it was cold and rainy, so Addison and I made some Rice Krispy treats to take with us on our trip. I have so much fun on these activities now that Addison is getting older. She's so curious and loves to help me out, which makes it all so fun! I do think Addison ate more than she helped, but she had a blast nonetheless...

Helping stir the mix

Our Rice Krispies were not your regular Rice Krispies...of course I tried to be festive and make them fallish, so we made them into candy corns. Here is how we did it...

First we melted a half of a stick of butter and added the entire bag of marshmallows. Then we stirred the mixture until it was melted.

Then we separated the mixture into three separate bowls. The green got the biggest of the mixture and so on with the orange getting just a small bit.

Then we took food coloring and added it to the bowls, but we left one bowl with no food coloring at all...

Next we added in the Rice Krispies and to be honest I don't know the measurements. I just added them until it looked right.

Here is where the recipe is different. Instead of putting the Krispies in a pan, you get a round dish. The yellow Krispies make a circle on the outside, orange in the middle and white in the center.

After you let it sit like that for about an hour, then cut the Rice Krispies like a pizza so that they are shaped like candy corns

Ta-da!! So easy and so fun!!
We ended up having to go straight to the bathtub, but I was so worth the mess!!

Happy birthday, RK!

Don't judge me here. I am WAY behind with this post and it's only because I started it, left it as a draft and then forgot about it. oops!

Anyway, we went to the CUTEST birthday party at the end of August (told you I was behind) for our friend's little girl, RubyKate. Her mommy is so talented, so I knew it would be precious. The theme of the party of Charlotte's Web and there were actual pigs (3 of them) at the party. Not to mention the two goats! It was a hot day so the kiddos played in the pool and at the water table. Miss Addy Bug had a ball!!

RubyKate, I we hope you had a great birthday and we love you so very much!!
Me and my girl

Looking at the pigs. Nathan got one out of the cage for her to pet and it squealed right as he lowered it down. Addison FREAKED!

Playing with her buddy BG. Something about these two...they remind me of one another!

I'd say she had fun...

Boyd's Ochard

This past week our family kicked off my fall break by heading to Boyd's Orchard. If you've never been, you should go. I'm serious when I say you'll love it! In fact a few weeks ago I took my class to Boyd's on a field trip and I got comments like, " I never want this day to end," and "you're right...this place is awesome!" In other words, do yourself a favor and take your family, I promise you won't regret it :) They have hay rides, petting zoos, 3 patches of pumpkins, apple trees, giant hay slides, playgrounds, gem mines, a train ride and so much more that is perfect for kiddos. I think it's the best!!

P.s. I may have gone a bit crazy with the pictures...imagine that!!
