Kalightoscope

The louisville area has so many fun things to do during the holidays. This year we took Addison and Olivia to The Galt House hotel for the kalightoscope tour, which I would recommend to anyone! It's a tour of Christmas figures that have been created using a Chinese art technique of lights and a special fabric. The exhibits are amazing and the kids loved it. They also had a little elf village to tour,  a snow princess a
To see and a train to ride. My favorite memory has to be a tie between the girls dancing with an elf or the girls looping their arms together during the train ride. It was a great time and I can't wait to go back next year!

Snow Day!!

Sunday morning it snowed so much. Mike and I said we didn't think we've seen snow like that since we were really little. The snowflakes were HUGE! I loved it! We had a family day at home playing in the snow, eating potato soup and playing inside together. It was my idea of a perfect day!

16-17 month update

I actually started writing this post before Addison had turned 16 months old, then I turned around and she is now 17 months and I never got the chance to publish the post. Slow down baby girl! I have to give an update though, because if I don't I am scared years down the road I will forget something that she is doing right now and I don't want to do that because her little personality is amazing and she does so many things I never want to forget! So in honor of my little girl turning 17 months old, here are 17 facts about her.

1. She loves pickles, lemons and cucumbers with vinegar on them. Anything sweet, or sour, she's in! I on the other hand would rather eat anything in world besides something vinegary, but I like that she is willing to try new things. She also really likes tomatoes and Welch's fruit snacks. No wonder though. I only ate on average 3 packs a day for the first 14 weeks I was pregnant. It was the only thing, besides and baked potato, that I could stomach.

2. Addison's personality is contagious. She is such a great mixture of so many wonderful character traits all wrapped into one. She is so incredibly funny and outgoing, but at the same time she is so kind, snuggly and sweet. She is still a little scared when there are a lot of people around that she is unfamiliar with (I still think it is from her hospital stays) but she is very quick to wave high to someone in a store and make a new buddy. She's has also started showing us her independence. When she wants something done and she can't do it on her own yet (like put her tea cups on the saucer and then carry them from one end of the room to the other while balancing them) she gets frustrated and starts to cry. I feel so bad for her but I know it's part of her independence. She gets that honest. She also likes her time to herself when no one is talking to her or playing with her. She likes to piddle. Gets that honest too. Sometimes Mike will text me at work and tell me that Addison is awake, but is playing or reading a book in her crib and doesn't want to be picked up. The other night Mike and I were trying to play with her and she wanted to play alone so she took her tea set to the other side of the room and sat with her back to us so we could have a tea party on her own. I love that about her. We are the same that way.

3. Addison is really growing in the things I have noticed her doing. She's like a human sponge. She can tell you where her eyes, nose, mouth, teeth, ears, hand and feet are. She can sometimes point to her elbow and knee. She also knows lots of animal sounds including a turkey, owl, bird, horse, cow, dog, cat, chicken, lion, monkey, duck, pig. When I sing the ABC's to her, she still hum along, but she will definitely say ABC, T, Y and Z. She really loves to read her books too. She learns so much from them!

4. She loves her mamma and wants to be close to me at all times. I love that although it prevents me from getting things done sometimes. Here's how I see it- if the dishwasher is still full or the load of laundry didn't get done, but I spend quality time with my daughter and fostered my relationship with her and her daddy, I have been successful. I love when I come home in the afternoon because Addison squeals and yells, "OH HI MAMMA!" Her new thing that she says when she wants to be picked up is, "Hold you Mamma." Could she be any cuter? I can't help but drop everything and pick her up.

5. she loves Chick-Fil-A lemonade. Enough said. Who doesn't?! Each time she takes a drink, it ends with AHHHHH!!!!

6. Addison is so obsessed with Elmo (Elmosh as she says) She dances to lots of different music, but when the theme song to sesame street comes on, you better watch out because she is gonna get down!

7. She still likes Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, but has really started to take a liking to Daisy Duck in particular. She loves to yell OHHH TOOOODLE and DAISY DUCK!!!

8. She can melt mine and her daddy's heart in an instant. She now gives kisses and makes the "kiss sound" by smacking her lips together. We call them giving sugars. She will also hug your neck and say Uh-uh when she squeezes. Another thing that turns us to mush is she now says I love you (I WAAAVVV YOU). Oh my gosh, she is so amazingly precious!

9. She loves to say bless you to anyone that sneezes, even herself.

10. She is really into Christmas. She loves the lights and all the decorations, but believe it or not, she has done a really good job of not bothering the ornaments very much. Every now and then she will have a weak moment and she just HAS to touch them, but overall we are very proud if how well she listens to is when we tell her not to bother them.

11. She loves to play downstairs
In her playroom. I love that because before, she was impartial and would play wherever, but lately she has really started to want to go downstairs a lot.

12. She is so loving. Man, oh, man does she give the best hugs and kisses around. We call them giving someone a sugar :) and she squeezes your neck so tight tot give you a hug. Her demeanor is just so kind and sweet!

13. She loves Michael Jackson. I told you she is a woman after my own heart. Of course Mike and I would have a daughter who loves him as much as we do. Mike even got a video of Addison dancing in the car to his music ( she didn't know he was watching) and she was doing her head from side to side, snapping and just plain gettin' down. To the beat mind you!

14. The sound of the doorbell scares her. I assume it's because we live in the country and anyone we have at the house is usually planned, or family, so they just come on in. If we do have a rare delivery (like when I shop online...oops) the noise makes her jump and she gets a look of terror on her face. Poor thing. We gotta get this girl to the city!

15. She really doesn't like milk from a cup. We have tried a few times to take her bottle away, but she is miserable without it. I know it's important to get it gone so that she had healthy teeth, so we will try again soon.

16. Addison is ADDICTED to her passies. A few times I have turned around at home and she has one in her mouth and 5 in her hands. Pray for us when we try breaking that habit!

17. She is a people person. She loves to play and talk and be around others as much as I told you she just likes a little time to herself sometimes.

(It's an oatmeal bath...that's why the water looks like pond water!)
