Evelyn,
It doesn't seem possible that we celebrated your first birthday a couple of days ago. What a joy you have been to our family this past year. When I was pregnant with you, I already loved you so much, but the first time I held you I never really knew how much my heart longed to know you. You were the missing piece to our family. You will never know just how much I love you! I will never forget the first time that your big sister met you after you were born. My heart exploded because she jumped up in the bed with me and you and snuggled right up to you. You immediately turned your head toward her like you wanted to let her know how much you loved her. My heart about burst when I saw that love that you and Addison have for each other. It has continued throughout your entire first year. Your daddy is completely in love with you too. You give him the best kisses. Right after you were born and I held you for a few minutes, Daddy got to hold you. He instantly fell in love with you and I remember him telling you, "I'll give you anything you want." We love you, Evelyn. I will always be grateful for the fact that I got to be a stay at home mommy and be with you every single day. I got to witness all of your "firsts." Your first smile, your first words, the first time you crawled, sat up and then started standing. I love that I have been there with you to see everything. You are such a mamma's girl and I know it's because we are always together.
Evelyn, I pray for you each day. Over the past year my prayers have included lots things that we needed God's help for in the moment. Things like relief from teething, or a belly ache, but I also pray bigger things for you each day as well. My biggest prayer for you is that you will grow to know the Lord. I pray for your heart and that you will be open to accepting Christ into it when the time comes. I pray that I am the kind of mother that you will need. The kind that is patient and sets the example for you of what a Christ like mother and wife looks like. That way when you are older and it's your turn to be a wife and mommy, then you will know how to do that the way God wants you to. I pray that you will find happiness in your life. I want you to dream big dreams and know that your Daddy and I will support you and guide you along the way.
I still can't believe that I am the one that you call "ma-ma." Your sweet little smile and feisty personality melt me every time. I love that you know that you want and you don't give up until you get it. That will serve you great later in life. I love that you are spunky and also very loving. You are a cuddle bug! I love that you are happy and light up whenever you see me, Daddy or sissy. I love how you get so excited whenever it is time to eat. Most of the time you eat more than your big sister. Most of all, I just love you and I am so proud to be your mommy. Happy first birthday, Evey Girl! You make my world a brighter place.
